Bult Gemeenskapsprojek

Disaster Relief Fund

Introducing ProPotch!

We are proud to be one of the stakeholders of the JB Marks Municipality Disaster Relief Committee. This committee aims to #GiveHope and supplies distressed households with food during the COVID-19 lockdown period. In the Potchefstroom community alone, there are approximately 65 000 people that are facing hunger & deprivation due to the loss of income during the COVID-19.

Therefore, we have established the Disaster Relief project to raise the necessary funds to provide economic meals to those in need during the lockdown period. For as little as R1.00, we will be able to provide a meal to one individual. That means that it will cost approximately R65 000 to provide the above-mentioned community members with one single meal.

“We are extremely aware that many of us are uncertain of our financial position at this stage as well and may feel that we need to preserve funds for own use. In times like these, however, we also need to give from our vulnerability and show our solidarity with those whose needs are much greater than ours. In this process, we learn to trust that we are not alone in fighting this pandemic and that we can practically be the embodiment of a Higher Power looking after our indigent families.” – Jonathan Baron, Chairperson of the Potchefstroom Chamber of Commerce.

Second Life Good Store

On the 29th of March our Non-Profit Organisation, Second Life Goods Store, has opened its doors! All the strategic partners, the community and the sponsors were so proud. Second life is now part of our community. The Chamber, churches, businesses and the community made Second Life what it is today, a sustainable organisation that helps the people that needs it most.
The purpose of the Second Life Goods Store is to provide the community with quality clothes and goods for a quarter of the actual price. Potchefstroom was in dire need of a place where they can buy goods, they need without paying an arm or a leg for it.
We would like to thank all the businesses, churches and members of the community that made this dream a reality. Second Life Goods Store is a success and it is all thanks to you. All the donations and support have carried Second Life Goods Store!

Toolbox Talks

Join us on YouTube for our #ToolboxTalks! We have a breakfast event and you are welcome to join us for delicious food, great conversations, great laughs and interesting topics about the workplace. We share the life lessons we have learned throughout the years and we learn how to integrate our faith with our businesses. Here we combine business with our faith.

We have taken it upon ourselves as members of the community to ensure a safer Potchefstroom. Potchefstroom has had a lot of criminal assaults, sexual assaults, and safety incidents and we have taken the time to evaluate the situation. The community and the students made it clear that what Potch needs is a safer Bult. The Bult is the heart of Potchefstroom and we need to protect it.

The chamber has decided to work with the local Police Station, the community and the businesses to implement a strategy to protect the Bult from crime. Together we have decided upon a Community Police Station. This Police Station is being build on the Bult. The Chamber has implemented initiatives and raised funds to cover all the expenses.

Cleaning up our community has always been a dream of ours. The Trolly project is a huge success so far. Not only is the Trolly Project good for the community but it is also good for the businesses that rent the trollies. They get exposure and the satisfaction of keeping our town clean and beautiful.

We feel strongly about our responsibility to keep our community beautiful. It only costs R300,00 a month to hire the trolly branded with your business’s logo.
