We are proud to be one of the stakeholders of the JB Marks Municipality Disaster Relief Committee. This committee aims to #GiveHope and supplies distressed households with food during the COVID-19 lockdown period. In the Potchefstroom community alone, there are approximately 65 000 people that are facing hunger & deprivation due to the loss of income during the COVID-19.
Therefore, we have established the Disaster Relief project to raise the necessary funds to provide economic meals to those in need during the lockdown period. For as little as R1.00, we will be able to provide a meal to one individual. That means that it will cost approximately R65 000 to provide the above-mentioned community members with one single meal.
“We are extremely aware that many of us are uncertain of our financial position at this stage as well and may feel that we need to preserve funds for own use. In times like these, however, we also need to give from our vulnerability and show our solidarity with those whose needs are much greater than ours. In this process, we learn to trust that we are not alone in fighting this pandemic and that we can practically be the embodiment of a Higher Power looking after our indigent families.” – Jonathan Baron, Chairperson of the Potchefstroom Chamber of Commerce.
