Highveld Egg Co-operative Ltd was established in 1987 by 16 egg producers with the vision to enter the formal retail market in a more co-ordinated way. By establishing the Co-operative, it gave the farmers an opportunity to design and market one brand, which would render recognition and a permanent place in the retail markets.
